How do I complete a course with OccupationalTherapy.com?

After participating in a live webinar, video, audio or text-based course, you will be required to achieve a passing score of 80% on a multiple-choice examination. You will be given immediate feedback regarding the results of your exam and a second opportunity to pass the exam if necessary. To earn credit for a live webinar, you must be logged into the entire event and complete the exam within 7 days; for a video, audio, or text-based course, you must complete the exam within 30 days of the course registration date. If you do not complete the exam within those time parameters you must re-register for the course. You can access your CE Tests by clicking on ‘Dashboard’ or 'Pending Courses' on the navigation sidebar. After passing the exam, you will be required to complete a course evaluation in order to receive a certificate of completion for the course. Please note that you will not be allowed to complete more than 24 hours of coursework on any calendar day.

Who keeps track of how many CEUs have been earned?

OccupationalTherapy.com maintains a transcript of CE activities obtained on OccupationalTherapy.com for members. After you login, navigate to your Dashboard, and select "Transcripts." In the upper right corner of the page you will see an option to print or to save your certificates or transcripts. To view courses completed prior to the current year you will need to change the 'Year' from the drop-down menu located at the top left corner of the Transcript page and select "search." You may access this page at any time to view courses that you have completed.

Important Information about Reporting to CE Broker for Your State License

OccupationalTherapy.com will report your completed coursework to CE Broker if you are an OT/OTA licensed in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and if you select "yes" for reporting at the time you complete the exam. You may change your reporting preference any time until the course has been reported. To ensure that your CEU credits are reported properly to CE Broker, you must verify that your OccupationalTherapy.com user profile is up to date, including both the alpha and numeric portions of your Arizona, Florida, Georgia or Mississippi OT/OTA license (eg. RN9999) or the numeric portions of your Alabama, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Oklahoma, South Carolina, or Tennessee OT/OTA license (eg. 9999). If your profile is not current, your coursework may not be accurately reported to CE Broker. Remember that this reporting feature applies only if you are a member of CE Broker and would like CE Broker to maintain a record of your CEUs. Please allow 15 days following the course completion date before contacting the OccupationalTherapy.com CEU Administrator.

Please note that if you did not request OccupationalTherapy.com to report a course that you completed more than 45 days ago, you must self-report your coursework to CE Broker. For more information about self-reporting, please visit CE Broker. The OccupationalTherapy.com provider number for CE Broker is 50-14558. Your OccupationalTherapy.com course transcript or the individual course certificates of completion may be submitted as documentation.

Important Information about Reporting to CE Broker for NBCOT

NBCOT encourages the use of CE Broker to record and track your PDUs for certification and state licensure renewal. OccupationalTherapy.com is unable to report to CE Broker for NBCOT certification at this time. To add OccupationalTherapy.com courses (provider number 50-14558) to your NBCOT transcript in CE Broker, you’ll need to self-report to CE Broker.

Please note that this includes members who are licensed in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Even though we offer CE Broker reporting for those state licenses, you’ll need to self-report your PDUs for NBCOT certification.

For information about CE Broker reporting for NBCOT, or to link an existing CE Broker account to NBCOT, please contact NBCOT or CE Broker.

What is the difference between CEUs and the length of a course (course hours)?

Course length is reported differently by AOTA and NBCOT. AOTA uses the internationally recognized Continuing Education Unit (CEU) as the standard unit of measuring participation in a continuing education course. One (1.0) CEU is defined as 10 hours of participation in coursework. Therefore, a single hour of participation in a course is equal to 0.1 CEUs. NBCOT uses the Professional Development Unit (PDU) as an indicator of course length. PDUs can be converted using NBCOT’s conversion calculator. As a courtesy to members, the top of your OccupationalTherapy.com transcript converts your completed hours to PDUs, as well.

What are the AOTA Categories?

AOTA Approved Providers of continuing education must ensure that the content of each learning activity focuses on one or more areas of the AOTA Categories for Professional Development Activities. The AOTA Categories associated with each course offered on OccupationalTherapy.com are indicated in the CEU details for that course.
