Regardless of age, self-regulation challenges can affect a student’s ability to perform optimally. We can teach students some simple mindfulness techniques based on Polyvagal Theory to help them respond, versus react to day-to-day challenges. Let’s increase self-awareness by teaching what signals the body provides before dysregulation. No mats, bells, or chants are needed!

Occupational therapy personnel is increasingly using yoga to intervene with the neurological population. This podcast will discuss the evidence behind yoga with this population and provide advice to occupational therapy personnel who are interested in incorporating yoga into their specific practice. The complexity of Lewy body dementias (Parkinson’s disease dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies) and evaluation and intervention approaches for PTs, OTs, and SLPs will be examined in this class. Case studies emphasize opportunities and approaches for interprofessional collaboration to provide comprehensive, person-centered care.
