Children with learning disabilities often struggle in multiple areas of occupational performance. This course helps with understanding the characteristics and treatment of learning disabilities and ADD/ADHD in the pediatric population. Throughout this course, we will focus on practical treatment ideas to improve outcomes. Goal writing while considering the utilization of a strengths-based approach is discussed.

This course will offer options, materials, information, and education about how to facilitate emergency preparedness in clients and caregivers and how to potentially help keep clients safer. We will discuss our roles for various emergencies, including in the home, in the community, large-scale emergencies, and natural disasters; resources will be shared both for OT professionals and to share with clients/caregivers.

The after-effects of the world shut down due to COVID has impacted our school-aged children in ways that inhibit them from fully engaging in the occupation of being a student. Emotional dysregulation, decreased academic performance, delayed fine and visual motor skills, as well as impaired social skills, are just a few of the issues our students are battling against in this era.

This course is designed as a handy, concise, and quick reference guide for occupational therapists performing systemic differential diagnoses on patients suffering from neck and shoulder pain. This also provides the tools to determine the scope of therapy, criteria for a physician referral, and identifying systemic red flags. This is Part 1 of a 2-part series.

Children often struggle with fidgeting, attention deficits, and immature motor patterns which manifest themselves through frustration, sensory, and behavior issues. The optimal function of our bodies occurs when our sensory and motor systems are strong and able to adapt to the demands of the environment. Lack of movement opportunities and the use of electronic devices at a young age both affect the development of patterns used in the occupation of children. Occupational therapists can easily build-in assessment of body and segmental movement and posture. This session provides strategies for assessment and introduces treatment ideas for using movement to improve performance in occupation.

Therapy practitioners serve an important role for older adults amidst COVID-19 as we address ADL, safety, quality of life, mental health, and other areas directly impacted by this virus. Our contribution to the at-risk population of older adults is important and invaluable.

Although professionalism is an elusive concept, it is defined by sets of attitudes and behaviors specific to professions. You know it when you see it. You certainly know it when you don't. This course provides an overview of expected professional behaviors in healthcare including confidentiality, ethics, professional development, communication, and customer/patient service.

This webinar addresses key specific requirements for OT documentation including screens; evaluation/plan of care; reason for referral; prior level of function; goals; and progress reporting and discharge summary. Participants learn how to evaluate and articulate the medical necessity of their client, illustrate the complexity of their skills to support the necessity of their treatment plans, and recognize through examples what constitutes appropriate documentation.

This course allows attendees to view client families through an occupational therapy lens. It will present families in a unique viewpoint and allow clinicians to better understand and interact with families that appear difficult.

Unique considerations for seating and positioning in the home, best practices, and ethical dilemmas will be discussed with case examples in this course.
