I am in private practice, currently working with 2 separate patients with obesity. One of them requested me to talk to her TOPS group. I interviewed the second one about her personal reactions. These two seminars are helpful to me to be on target with the various needs and reactions of patients, for my performance as an occupational therapist and in my presentation to them at their TOPS group. Thank you.

The material is very relevant to me as a home health care clinician, and I was most interested to see if there have been any new adaptive advances for the bariatric population. I was surprised to find out the high cost of bariatric equipment and hopefully that will become more affordable if it is used more.

We are reminded to be open minded about obesity. More and more people are obese and there is a negative stigma attached to people who are obese. Also, it is possible to injure ourselves when working with patients who are heavier in weight. Beds, equipment, and rooms are more costly and may not be available in some cases and the worker will need to be more careful. We should use equipment whenever possible. Even manually pushing a patient can lead to more injuries to staff over time.

Great course and well organized presentation. The instructor had a lot of great content and shared a lot of quality research regarding bariatrics, safe handling, environment, assessments and OT. I really liked how the instructor utilized case studies and went through all the intervention options for those case study individuals to show how we can assist the whole person with obesity in their occupational performance.

I appreciate all the information and it is evident that the presenter is passionate about the topic. I feel more knowledgeable in assessing transfer safety and have a better idea of how to help the bariatric patient. In my place of practice, safe transfers are unrealistic with lack of equipment and increased shame on patient due to lack of proper bedding, chairs and overall equipment.

Particularly like the intervention strategies that can be used for childhood obesity: family education, nutrition education, cooking healthy meals. Also feel that nutritional counseling is very important for all Patient's. Most important aspect is that Medical Facilities lack Bariatric equipment, which puts all disciplines at physical risk.

Of the recommendations, so much is NOT under my control, even in part. I work in SNF and many would not be appropriate for our population who by and large are NOT the person most knowledgeable about their bodies and their safety at ANY size nor be possible given that I can't go get and bring in the equipment. Some of which requires more cooperation, participation, and effort than our patients can provide. & if I must roll a person onto a mat that will help them roll, it still requires 2 or more
