I enjoyed listening to this course! I agree/see in my district the decrease in services as the student progresses through the grades. I feel there is pressure to do so and it was interesting to hear the impact we can have. I would have loved to have seen more detailed description of what OT does in an ATP. I heard about the assessments but would also like to of heard more about the interventions

We are creating a pilot program in our district to increase more functional-based services to help our students as they begin to reach transition age so more are ready and eligible for Project Search.

As a school based therapist I have been discussing with my supervisor how I am feeling my time and focus is solely on the younger students with handwriting. This course made me realize I am not crazy for feeling this way and using my skills to work hand in hand with older students is just as school based as handwriting is.

So much information was packed into this one hour. I need to reread/relisten to figure out what recommendations may be feasible in my setting. Very helpful to hear about so many assessments that are available. A spin-off of this topic, focusing on helping to search out appropriate job experiences in a particular community, would be so helpful. The school system employee is mostly putting my students into cleaning jobs.

It is a good topic but there was almost too much info given without segways to the related material. Listened to it 2x and still had difficulty answering the questions at the end as key points were not made memorable.I could also see alot of the same therorys being used in rehabilitation of the justice system as many convicts are DD from having time spent just waiting while the world progresses without their involvement.

Our school district in Arkansas recently had connection with Transition Coalition that provides a certificate level 30 hours of training on Post Secondary Transitioning. It was excellent. We identified a large number of available functional evaluations as well as standardized that could be used. One of our subgroups focused on challenging diagnoses, SLP and OT were given these. It was a good use of time and provided collaboration among different professionals that is already bearing fruit.
