The course reaffirmed experiences of exploring what cultural and spiritual factors my patients have shared with me and that have related to goal setting and intervention choices, especially to be client-centered, but the course also helped me learn more about how to converse with the patients in a sensitive way and open up even more.

The importance of knowing about a wide variety of different cultures and religious beliefs working with many different individuals from different parts of the world. We as Occupational Therapists must take these ideas and incorporate them into client-centered interventions. Also, by knowing the spiritual beliefs and cultural differences you are less likely to offend them in anyway jeopardizing the established client-therapist relationship.

Love that he gave non-religious examples of spirituality such as love, support, and hope, for those that are hesitant to approach the topic because they are linear in thinking it is exclusive to God. Strip it down to its most common denominator- Love. Thank you so much for this perspective for those that don't understand this part of our framework. Just love your patients, teach self-love, and give them hope.

Scott does a great job communicating to the audience, especially through the online platform. I would sign up for an in-person course that he would teach. As an OT who is now an MFT, I would love to have more conversations around mental health in our OT practice!
