What made this course good was the fact that the instructor provided visual examples to follow her explanations, as well as dissecting the scientific data to back up her points. I also liked that she utilized her own examples and seemed knowledgeable about what she had done with each patient. However, I wish there a greater emphasis on teaching the techniques so we could implement this in our own practice. I do not feel like I can apply this information to my own patients confidently.

As a COTA that works in an LTAC setting it is very important to help keep our patients repositioned every 2 hours to help prevent pressure sores and help prevent contracture. Our facility has just recently begun assigning to nurses, the CNAs and PT and OT therapists for patients that are unable to readjust their positions in bed and work as a team to help ensure patient repositioning, the video and teaching style of the presenter was very helpful towards helping our patients.

I now have a resource that I can use in the LTAC to the nurses to demonstrate why positioning is essential part of a healthcare professional’s job and that it takes more than one discipline to perform, we just all need to be on the same page. I will be looking up the PDFs to share at my facility.
