I liked the presenter's knowledge as well as her ability to break down each diagnosis to make it easier to potentially identify. I also think she did an excellent job of connecting OT in a way that works for our profession, rather than saying "oh yeah this is something OTs should be an expert in"

I appreciated the whole-person-approach that the speaker takes to treating children with mood disorders. Her inclusion of calming / centering /grounding activities helped me feel much more prepared for helping a child self-regulate if they are feeling heightened emotions. I also appreciate how respectful she is towards children and their behaviors; you can tell that she speaks to them like competent humans, and not lesser than simply because they are children.

I loved how our role was explained in that we can identify symptoms and interventions that are helpful, which may contribute to diagnosis by the appropriate provider. Our role is definitely important and can help so much with identifying what is going on based on function. Thank you!

This course was very informative and interesting! I do think that mood disorders (undiagnosed) are causing a lot of the negative behaviors we are seeing in schools. This course had so many good recommendations for interventions, which is so important when one is taking a course because we need to know what to do next. Sidenote: I love that Tere also has therapy dogs and takes them to work with her - I have one and I take her to school with me. I am going to be training another soon.

Excellent speaker and very informative topic to discuss. This is such an eye opening course and I am so grateful to hear from a very knowledgeable speaker. I have learned many techniques to properly approach to this type of population. I have worked in a ABA clinic back in Jacksonville, NC with majority of the people I worked with are Behavioral therapists. I have seen many ways of how therapist dealt with kids and often times the rewards comes first and at the end of the session the child

It seemed as though the presenter made a lot of definitive statements when there are not definitive conclusions, such as "if I see someone is taking lithium or Abilify, I know they are bipolar." Not only is the language concerning, but it's an objectively false statement. Additionally, there did not seem to be a lot of explanations with things that made me question the presenter's knowledge, such as seemingly being unaware of anhedonia when it is a significant symptom of depression.

This class was very well put together. Thank you for covering this topic and doing so so thoroughly. My daughter struggled with her mental health rather significantly from ages 10-16. She was hospitalized several times over the years until 1 program and 1 person recognized that she not only has ADHD and Major Depressive Disorder but also Nonverbal Learning Disability, which most people in the mental health profession have not even heard of yet. This dx changed her life. So Thank you for this!
