This is such a needed area of occupational skilled intervention. The presenter does an excellent job of encompassing all the aspects that can be addressed or considered by OT in the new mother population, and arguing for the need to treat them as a special population. This was a very inspiring presentation. I'd like to see an update on how service to this population has grown in the last 6 years.

Gave tangible examples of way OT can be incorporated with the specified population. Not only "big picture" ideas. I also really enjoyed that the speaker discussed various practice settings and how the role of OT may differ within this population. As an acute care pediatric OT working with infants in critical care and with specialized feeding needs, I know there is a huge opportunity to better support maternal mental health.

I really never view how Occupational therapy fitted in to bridge this gap looking back as being a new mother while fore-filling the multiple roles as a mother, wife, caretaker, etc. I truly could have used this assistance in my overall recovery not only better caring for myself as well for my newborn an overall recovery and better caring for my child with the emotional, physical and psychosocial adjustments. I now can learn by working with the younger population among mothers with various diagnosis post pardon, depression, separation anxiety, carpal tunnel, stress, etc how to help with a successful role transition to motherhood using the maternal health model providing the appropriate occupational scope of practice with effective treatment approaches for health and prevention for prenatal concerns of new Mothers with resources and tools to aide surrounding that time period of having a child in the right settings (client-centered).
