As an OT I've wondered why PTs present to pts as demanding, however I think they use the opposite side of their brain to function. Much needed in Healthcare where reimbursement is outcome driven.I loved having the pt see their own barriers and be part of the solution, I like how MI let's the pt be the expert of their body or dysfunction and be able to make a change by realizing their barriers. The presenter was excellent! She progressed at a good pace, principles built upon each other, she gave personal example to help understanding the content, and the scenerio's were a method of self-evaluating cognitive application. I do not think people know how much motivational interviewing goes into early intervention and trying to help parents make changes in their lives to help themselves and their children. This was a very good introduction to motivational interviewing. However, I think most people would need additional work in practicing with MI to effectively put it into action (i.e., perhaps a day long seminar versus a couple hour workshop). I am excited to see therapists put MI into practice.

The diagrams for each concept were exceptional. The knowledge of the instructor was in-depth. The instructor's speaking was a bit fast as the slides were shown and removed. I think that adding PowerPoints with the instructor's diagrams would be an excellent tool for each of her students.
