Thomas F. Fisher
PhD, OTR/L, CCM, FAOTA
Dr. Thomas F. Fisher has been an occupational therapist for 45 years. He has held a variety of leadership positions in clinical practice, higher education, and in the professional organization of AOTA, most notably as the Vice President. He became a certified case manager in 1994 (almost 30 years) after successfully passing the certification examination for case managers. His case management experience began in home health. His CV demonstrates his case management experience.
In July, Dr. Fisher retired as the Dean of the Vera Z. Dwyer College of Heath Sciences at Indiana University South Bend. He is a well-established practitioner, educator, researcher, and administrator. His lines of research are professional education issues, health policy, and applied research with neurological, musculoskeletal, and occupational health and safety for the adult population.
In 2016, Thom was the recipient of the AOTA Award of Merit. This is the highest award given to an occupational therapist through the AOTA, recognizing his significant contributions to the profession. At the 2017 AOTA Centennial Celebration in Philadelphia, Dr. Fisher became one of the 100 Most Influential People in Occupational Therapy, in its first 100 years.

Dr. Dennis Cleary has over 25 years of experience as an occupational therapist. Dennis’ clinical practice has been primarily with children and adults with intellectual disabilities to encourage their full participation in all aspects of life at home, work, and in the community. He has had faculty positions at The Ohio State University and Indiana University. As a researcher, he has been on teams that have received over seven million dollars in grants from state and federal agencies, including a National Institutes of Health multisite trial of the Vocational Fit Assessment, an age-appropriate transition assessment, which he co-created. He has numerous publications and national and international presentations. Dennis is passionate about increasing the role of Occupational Therapy in transition-age service with the goal of improving outcomes and quality of life for all.
