Refresher

As a COTA and a freshly recovering breast cancer survivor, this course has significantly helped me understand the reasoning for my post cancer TX fatigue. The huge take away from this course is that as the opportunity arises, I will be able to apply what I have learned in this course combined with the actual life experience to at least, in some small way, help other breast cancer survivors recover from the affects of post cancer fatigue.

I do not treat many patients that are being or recently being treated for cancer in my work setting. Energy management and sleep patterns are very important with intervention when addressing fatigue. I have a better understanding of the side effects of cancer treatments have on the brain and how it directly impacts cognitive function. OT can utilize interventions for the 'Chemo Brain" to improve function.

Jantina Kroese-King did a fabulous job giving us the facts about fatigue after cancer, how to identify fatigue symptoms, explaining model energy, energy module & measurement, sleep-cognitive function, & E-health. 2 million new cancer cases got diagnosed in the US in 2023. Cancer's impact is physical, psychosocial, & cognitive well being. There are quality of life and fatigue problems. Many cancer pt's focus on the psychological & social aspects rather than the disease or tx. itself.
