Very informative with great ideas. Reminding us why play is always important and that worksheets aren't always what a child needs for learning. We must remember that play is a child's main occupation and we are as therapists here to advocate for a child and their developmental needs!

I value the Montessori Method for teaching education to children. So, I am very much in agreement with this course. Children NEED play and lots of it to be well rounded and thrive in the school setting.

This course had some fun ideas for play that would be great for someone who is new to working with children, but overall nothing about the course is groundbreaking. It was interesting to hear statistics about play in regards to academics. I was disappointed to see that this course was generic and not OT-specific.

I was thinking I was going to learn how to incorporate play into the rules and regulations that public schools must follow. Instead it was about the importance of play. It isn't that school based OTs and teachers don't know this, it is that schools must follow the rules and regulations. This didn't help me learn how to incorporate play while still following rules and regulations.

I am an early childhood educator and an OTA. I found this course helpful with bridging gaps between the two professions. It also brought to light the things both professions have in common. I think that is critical for OTA’s working in a setting dominated by educators. It’s important for both professions to understand the other’s objectives, barriers and founding principles.

Very relevant to current struggle of working in Kindergarten (universal since standards) with developmentally inappropriate expectations, rigor of K, decreased recess and independent play time, and decreased attention to children developing at different rates and within different time frames (due to actual chronological age just turning 4 vs almost 6 etc) and just individual development--the cookie cutter benchmark expectation and testing vs. development of skills relative to individual progress

Wow this course is amazing, I am going to share much of the transcript with the parents at the preschool I work with who keep askiing me if their children are ready for TK? This course is packed with information highlighting the importance of play and not rushing a child's development with academics and allowing them the time to learn through play. The benefits of play are endless as seen in this class. I highly reccomend this class for early educators and OT's
