I’m sure the instructor is a nice person and probably more Knowledgeable than what he presented, but the content was quite limited and very, very basic. The counterforce brace should’ve had fabric under the D ring so that skin would not protrude through that D ring because it is applied somewhat firmly. Other examples, but not enough space.

Although I have not been involved in hand therapy and am currently retired (but maintain license and certification), I am interested in this topic as I seek out opportunities to support the OT field in ways alternative to direct client care. For example, could I provide sewing services at a clinic.

I have done a lot of these techniques both with and without sewing and took the course to see if there was anything unique or different to learn and found for my level of experience the course was too basic. Would be good for those therapists who haven’t had the opportunity to experiment with the materials.

As an OT who graduated in 1980, I was happy to see this course. All OT departments used to having sewing machines and therapists that knew how to sew. We used to have to sew all straps, use d-rings and metal rivets to secure straps to splints. Adhesive Velcro was a fantastic invention, but not great for everything. I have a sewing machine at home, but I’ve used a needle, thread and a thimble to sew strapping when needed. It doesn’t have to fancy. Great instructor,

I benefited very much from Cameron's teaching style. It has been many years since I worked in Hand Therapy so I recognized a lot of the terms but had forgotten some of the anatomy. He visually and audibly taught what he was referring to, for example A1 Pulley, which took out all of the guessing and trying to remember. My husband, who works as a Civil Engineer, was listening in the background to this presentation and he also enjoyed it and learned.
