This course just gives us all reminders of how important positioning is. I wish nursing and CNAs were required to take something like this course. It seems like therapist attempted to teach and train on the importance of positioning however it is not always followed.

I work in a SNF and I wish every CNA in our facility could watch this seminar. I grow tired of seeing poor postural alignment in wheelchairs with no footrests providing support underneath feet. I realize how hard a job being a CNA is but sometimes taking a few extra minutes to position a Resident correctly in a wheelchair can make a difference in their ROM and improving their skill set ie. Feeding themselves, brushing their teeth, combing their own hair.

It was interesting course but positioning patients in a SNF every 2 hours does not happen in the geographical area where I work. Patients are lucky to be positioned in bed if they get a brief change or a bed bath. SNF staffing is a joke anymore.

So informative and great ideas for uses of inexpensive items for improved posture. Posture issues can relate to so many people and knowing there are some simple items/interventions we can implement to make such a difference. I also enjoyed seeing the long term results of the Montana and the BaoNHia. Very motivating!

Tamara Kittleson did a fabulous job telling us how important positioning is in a 24 hr period in a SNF. The 3 human postural orientations are lying, sitting, & standing. The goal of the posture care mgmt. program is encompassing all activities & interventions which impact an individual's posture & function. The safety concerns being breathing/aspiration, thermal regulation, pain, & pressure. To protect body symmetry, improve sleep & lessen flexion, agitation & pain. "Harness gravity for good."

I really enjoyed this course. I thought the information was very thorough and detailed backed by research and studies. I liked that the instructor included pictures/visual aids to show us various types of positions and corrected postures using supports. I also enjoyed watching the Bas Jansen video for an additional visual aid to see how gravity impacts the ribcage, spine and sternum. Overall, very good presentation and learning how impactful proper positioning is.
