Mindfulness is so extremely important in today's world, especially as a healthcare worker. Being able to see others with grace and compassion, and know when we cannot is critical to being inspirational to others.

I like the way she begin with the breathing exercise and her presentation was very informative and helpful on how to de-stress, but also how to approach certain situations and think differently before responding or allowing emotions to consume you. As humans we " feel " but what are we going to do with those feelings, how can we express them positively.

Front. Psychiatry, 01 April 2022Sec. Psychological Therapy and PsychosomaticsVolume 13 - 2022 | https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyt.2022.802606 Paul Maclean's triune brain theory is passe, and pushes OT thinking toward medical model and popular level techniques, which rob us of our occupational distinctiveness. It will serve the profession well to realign our philosophical, pragmatist roots and holistic OT paradigms with current neuroscience. I've attached an article from a quick search to note.

Good introduction to use of mindfulness and awareness of stress in the workplace. A lot more information on the topic, but this is a good 'awareness' lesson to cue OTs to look into it further, if they haven't already.

This is such an underrated area that deserves more attention. My husband is a physician and I have many friends in all forms of the medical field. I have a friend whose mission is an advocacy project on this exact topic in addition to promoting awareness about the increase in suicide in health care workers and first responders. So this was a wonderful representation of the experiences, the science behind burnout and what we can do.
