I’ve always thought of Yoga as a “standing exercise”. This brought light to Yoga being used in my profession as a part of fall prevention, and adapted to be performed in a chai or wheelchair. I will be integrating what I have learned, among the many different types of Yoga I was educated on, within this course.

I appreciated the specifics regarding a suggested yoga class sequence for older participants, including the warm-up activities, and information on how to adapt for individuals with different needs using sitting and standing asanas, with and without additional props. The photos provided were helpful and will be good visual aids to refer back to.

Good ideas for adding yoga asanas to our treatment plans, especially fall prevention; also good suggestions for introducing patients to yoga in the hopes of their later enrollment in a community class for continuity of strangthening, etc., benefits.

Very good introduction as to how a therapist can introduce yoga as a method for fall prevention. The instructor was very experienced and research based, which added depth to the course. I appreciated the modifications that were presented, as safety is always a primary concern. It was helpful to understand how to support clients ways to incorporate yoga into their lives - whether it is at home or in a community setting.

As someone not familiar with the topic, this presentation was very informative about the practice of yoga and how it can be employed in therapeutic situations. I particularly valued learning how specific muscles can be strengthened to improve stability and decrease falls through yoga poses with the emphasis on eccentric activity. I would like to continue to learn more about how yoga can be utilized with older adults.

I would not recommend this course. While the topic of yoga is very interesting and one that I am very intrigued by. However, the instructor was "all over the place", random, and hard to follow. She contradicted herself between her personal studies and research vs. the research she choose to highlight in this course. There were a couple quiz questions that could have had a variety of answers, because she didn't directly address them or gave several different answer: ex: Weakness in what area contributes to increased falls? The course overall literally gave me a headache, it was a challenge to follow and get a clear understanding of the purpose of the course.
